Why Roadcraft?

When we set out to build our first OCV, we threw away the textbook. We wanted to create an adventure vehicle - a campervan that not only looked and felt better than anything else out there but, one that outperformed them as well. So, we started with a blank sheet of paper. What others said was impossible, became possible through inventiveness and full on commitment to make it happen. In our own humble opinions, we think we've cracked it. Here are four reasons why:

The Drive

We're not boguns but let's face it, we like to drive. RoadCraft vans perfom like cars…not school buses. That's why we choose to craft our vans on the Fiat Ducato base. In fact, the new Ducato is designed to take into account the specific needs of leisure time vehicles. Motorhome manufacturers seem to like this idea so much that two of every three new motorhomes made in Europe are built on the Ducato base. The Design

Built by adventurers for adventurers (or the adventurous at heart).

All Rugged up - Wild at heart doesn't mean you have to live in a cave. Welcome to the warmest and driest campers out there. Our air conditioned carpeted vans are designed to keep you cosy in the worst conditions. Diesel heating provides warm air without the dampness of gas heating. Keep the heating on in the rear cabin while travelling so you won't have warm feet and a cold back. All our vans have bathrooms that convert to a drying room so by the time you're back at camp, your gear will be ready to use again. Being this good is hard to swallow.

Kitted out - On the mountain, at the beach, in the forest, our vans are designed for max function. You can go bush for days and still use all your appliances and toys without being hooked up to mains power or having to start your engine. RoadCraft's unique long-life energy system will give you both 240 and 12 volt power while free camping at your favourite off track location. In the galley, you'll find a top-of-the-line gas cooker and grill as well as a dirty big fridge with freezer plus all the best gear you're used to in your own kitchen. Everything fits snugly in its purpose-built compartment so there's no worries about noise and breakage when you take your RoadCraft van off road. And when it's time to clean up, turn on the outdoor shower and leave the grime outside. Like you we take fun seriously.

Space to burn - Who says you can't take it with you? Our vans have loads of boot storage as well as plenty of usable interior locker and hanging space, all designed with your gear in mind. Whether your buzz is snowboarding, rock climbing, or kayaking, there's a place to put your toys. You can spread out and move around - so at the end of your trip, you'll still be friends. The van's open, clean and airy atmosphere sets us apart from the competition.

Chilled out - The sun is setting so crank up the hooded gas barbie, out with the coldies and get the tailgate party started. Sit back, hook your iPod into the entertainment centre, and relive your day's adventure. You may be miles from civilization but that's no reason to be uncivilized. And after the party, curl up on the wraparound couch and enjoy your favourite movie. When it's time to catch up on some well earned rest, unfold the big comfy bed (trust us, we've used it) and sleep. Now this is living. Just a few more reasons why RoadCraft kicks butt.

The Build

You don't want to be stuck with fittings that don't work or ruin your expensive toys under a leaking window - and neither would we. That's why we've tracked down the best available materials, fittings, and equipment for our vans. They are then installed by our team of skilled motorhome builders to our unreasonably lofty standards. We when we're not building or selling these babies we're out in them - so if it doesn't work for our fussy crew, we won't subject you to it.

The Service

We only sell to family. Sorry, didn't we mention that? Actually, we have a pretty big extended family and our friends are just like family too. Once you're a RoadCraft owner, you're one of the family. We'll look after you just like we look after our own. And to help you sleep easy at night, all our vehicles come with a 3 year/ 200,000km warranty on the base van and the campervan conversion plus one year on appliances.

The New Zealand caravan industry peaked in 1977 with over 10,000 caravans manufactured every year. In 1979 the government introduced a 20% sales tax on new caravans and overnight the market crashed.
